The northeastern states of India i.e. Sikkim, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura have been receiving good rainfall activity. During the last 24 hours also all the states in Northeast India received moderate to heavy rain showers.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Silchar recorded 87 mm of rain, Jalpaiguri 28 mm, Kohima 20 mm, Mazbat 14 mm, North Lakhimpur 13 mm, Haflong 6 mm, Tezpur 0.8 mm.
A cyclonic circulation is extending up to 2.1 km above sea level over East Assam. Southerly moist winds in the upper level are also reaching over most parts of the northeastern states.
Heavy rain is likely over West Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland region during the next 24 hours. Rest all other northeastern states will receive moderate rains during the next 24 hours. Heavy rains will continue at many parts during the next 48 hours. Rainfall activity will increase over some more parts.
Due to these heavy rains landslide may also be a chance. Thus, we expect the residents in Northeast India to take precautions and stay inside the house during the time of heavy rain.
Talking about the temperatures, due to these heavy rains the temperatures over most parts of Northeast India are near normal.
