Heavy rain in Amritsar, other parts of Punjab

While Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan have observed good pre-Monsoon showers in last few days, parts of Punjab had been waiting for good pre-Monsoon activity. However, owing to the cyclonic circulation marked over Northwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Uttarakhand, Punjab has been blessed with good rains.

Amritsar is currently witnessing heavy rain with low visibility upto 50 meters. Rain is likely to continue for another few hours. In the wake of this rain, maximum temperature that had been settling close to 40°C in Amritsar and other parts of Punjab will come down marginally.

Relief from oppressive heat is expected in the region due to partly cloudy sky and light occasional rain. Light rain along with thundershower is expected in Amritsar and adjoining areas during next few days.
