With the presence of a Western Disturbance and an induced Cyclonic Circulation over the plains of North India, rains have commenced over Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh as well as Rajasthan.
Moreover, these showers are heavier today, as compared to previous spell seen yesterday. There is expected to be a slowdown tomorrow but some rains will be seen regardless. Heavier showers are expected to take over once again around January 7 with some hailstorm activity as well.
These weather systems are also getting a lot of support from the upper air. Normally these systems remained confined to the lower layers of the atmosphere but presently, there is a lot of upper air pattern coming up around 7th and 8th January resulting in heavier showers. January 9 may see some rains in view of the remnant of the system causing such weather activity.
Hailstorm will be seen along the foothills, northern parts of Punjab and Haryana as well as Delhi on January 7 and 8. This could be an alarming situation for these states with very heavy showers likely to be seen and some crop damage is also likely due to this upcoming spell.
