Heavy rain expected over east Gujarat and Vidharbha

August 1, 2013 1:18 PM |

The well marked low pressure area over south east Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Vidharbha is likely to move further westward and weaken gradually. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rain is expected at few places over Madhya Pradesh, Vidharbha, Marathwada, north Maharashtra and east Gujarat.

North Konkan will continue to receive moderate to isolated heavy rain for next 24 hours and reduce thereafter. Rest west coast will have light to moderate rain.

The cyclonic circulation over Punjab with the interaction of a western disturbance as an upper air system may cause good rain over west Jammu and Kashmir, adjoining north Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.  Rain would decrease considerably over Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh and south Punjab in next 24 hours. Himachal and Uttarakhand will mainly receive light to moderate rain at few places.

In the eastern part of the country rain is expected to decrease further. Mainly dry weather will prevail over east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, gangetic plains, Jharkhand and north Orissa. Bihar is already facing rainfall deficit which does not look to improve very soon.

Similar situation is prevailing over northeast India where rain has been deficient. However, light to moderate rain is expected at few places here for next couple of days.

Meanwhile, interior parts of south peninsula would observe mainly dry weather except south interior Karnataka and Madhya Maharashtra.
