A trough prevailing in the Andaman Sea is moving westwards and is likely to give widespread heavy rain in Andaman and Nicobar Islands in next 24 hours. The spell of rain will continue for at least a couple of days. Due to heavy rain the temperature in the region is likely to drop by almost 2 degrees. Strong gusty winds blowing at a speed of 40-50 kmph will also be experienced during the period.
On the other hand, the easterlies, reaching up to the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu is also expected to give light rain in the state in next 48 hours. This will help in pulling down the temperature by a couple of notches but the weather will be sultry due to the moisture laden winds.
Meanwhile, there is another system that has developed over gulf of Siam and is extending up to mid tropospheric level. A low pressure area is also expected to form over the Andaman Sea during the next 48 hours, indicating fairly widespread weather activity in the region for a couple of days.
