The cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal hit the Andhra and Orissa coast yesterday and brought moderate rain at many places. Heavy to moderate rain will continue to lash the states for the next 24hours. Other than Andhra, rain could also be heavy at south Orissa, south Madhya Pradesh, parts of Chhattisgarh and at Telangana.
Widespread moderate rainfall was recorded at many stations off Andhra and Orissa coast. These places were, Vishakapattam-38mm, Vijaywada-26mm, Kalingapatnam-28mm, Ramagundum-21mm and Jharsuguda-42mm.
“We are expecting rain to be up to 50mm and more in Hyderabad, Vishakapatanam, west Godavari, Krishna delta and other districts of Andhra Pradesh during the next 6 hours. Moreover winds could be strong of up to 50kmph. Those near the coast should be careful”, informs the Head of the forecasting team at Skymet Weather, Mahesh Palawat.
“The cyclonic circulation will follow its southwest path and will enter Madhya Pradesh by tomorrow morning, giving heavy rain of 50 to 80mm at south west Madhya Pradesh and at the Vidharbha region”, he further adds.
While heavy rain continues in parts of south and central India, north India could have dismal weather for another 24 hours. Rain will be patchy and may occur in one odd pocket of Delhi. High temperatures and above 90% humidity levels will bother people. Mainly dry days will continue in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. Temperatures will be in the range of 32 to 38 degree Celsius.
Chances of rain in Delhi, Rajasthan and other parts of north India could be a possibility on Sunday due to the clouding effects of the cyclonic circulation which is likely to curve and move towards west U.P and then further towards the foothills of Himalayas.
