The axis of the Monsoon trough will shift further up, close to the foothills of the Himalayas, increasing rainfall over Uttarakhand. At present, the Monsoon trough is running from Sri Ganganagar to Bay of Bengal across Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Skymet Weather predicts inclement weather conditions and heavy Monsoon rains from July 16 to 18. This spell of rain will disrupt normal life in Uttarakhand. Situation is going to be grim as the hilly states generally fall apart during such incidents. The Char Dham Yatra could also be majorly affected.

The administration should take utmost precaution and it is best to avoid travel and tourism for at least one week. By then, weather will clear up and the overflowing rivers will subside.
