Heavy rain alert in Coastal Karnataka, Konkan & Goa

It’s the time of the year when the West Coast of India witnesses incessant good showers, becoming heavy at times. The onset phase of Monsoon brings heavy showers in Coastal Karnataka, Konkan & Goa.

A similar situation is being observed at the moment. The upper air cyclonic circulation over eastcentral Arabian Sea off the Karnataka coast is now likely to become more marked. It will keep moving upwards along the West Coast.

South Arabian Sea is already having thick of Monsoon air mass which is proving all the essential features for any protrusion (weather systems) in the proximity to grow. The off shore weather system is being observed as a threat for heavy showers along the West Coast, particularly between Mangalore and Ratnagiri. Rains will extend even North and South of this region but heavy showers will be observed in places like Honnavar, Mangalore and Goa stand a chance of receiving good showers.

In fact, it has been raining heavily along the West Coast for quite some time now.

Rains will now increase on either side of the coast. Monsoon has been officially by the Indian Government on June 8, 2016. The real Monsoon affair begins with a bang.
