Heavy pre-Monsoon rains have started Hyderabad after long. Though the state capital has been recording rains since last week but intensity of showers was more on Friday afternoon.  These showers are likely to continue for next two-three hours.

All thanks to the low-pressure area that has developed over west-central Bay of Bengal off the Andhra and Odisha coast. With this, humid winds have been blowing over Hyderabad, which has led to formation of convective clouds over the city by early afternoon today, finally leading to rains.

As the system will continue to persist near the region, good rains and thundershowers would continue over Telangana including Hyderabad till June 11.

Thereafter, intensity of rain will reduce as the system moves away but on and off rain activities will continue over the city.
Hyderabad has already recorded 108.3 mm of rain in span of initial nine days of the monthly only. And, with today’s rainfall, the city is most likely to surpass its monthly average rainfall of 111.2 mm.

Monsoon normally reaches Hyderabad by June 10. However, this year, we expect that Monsoon will cover many parts of Telangana including Hyderabad by June 12.
