Despite the sizzling temperatures across most of India wherein the maximums are settling at a whopping 40-degree plus, most of the Northeastern states of the country are relishing some good pre-Monsoon showers.
In fact, several districts of Northeast India have been witnessing heavy rains from the last couple of days that has resulted in the drop in temperatures as well.Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, andSikkimwitnessed moderate to heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours.
Let’s have a look at the rainfall recorded in parts of Northeast India within a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday:
As per Skymet Weather, these rains were a result of a cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh and adjoining northern parts ofWest Bengal. Moreover, an east–west trough is also seen extending fromBiharto Nagaland across Bangladesh and Assam.
In addition to this, the moist southwesterly winds that are reaching the region from the Bay of Bengal are also fueling up in the rain activities.
Furthermore, Skymet Weather predicts these rains to continue lashing the region and within next 48 hours, the rain activity is expected to intensify, particularly in Assam, Meghalaya, andManipur. While other districts of the region may witness scattered rains except inArunachal Pradeshwherein rains with lesser intensity are likely.
