The Northeast Monsoon is going to give some very good rain in Karnataka. According to senior meteorologists at Skymet the centre of action in terms of rain is going to be South Interior Karnataka, though light to moderate rain will also be witnessed in other parts of the state.

If we look at the weather models at Skymet, there is a Well Marked Low-Pressure Area over the Comorin region and adjoining Indian ocean. This weather system is expected to intensify into a Deep Depression in the Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area in the next 24 hours giving good intensity rain in Karnataka.

Though there is good rain forecast in the state, heavy rain will largely be confined to the south interior parts. North Interior and South Coastal Karnataka will observe light to moderate rain. The rainfall activity in the state will continue for the next 2-3 days with the intensity of rain decreasing thereafter.

Meanwhile, there is a chance of another Cyclone forming in the Arabian Sea which will be called Maha. It will be the fourth Cyclone of the year after Vayu, Hikka and Kyarr. Compared to the Bay of Bengal not many Cyclones form in the Arabian Sea. But this year it has been a little different with IOD (Warm Sea Surface Temperature of Arabian Sea) being the strongest in History. However, this cyclone will not be of much threat to the Indian mainland.
