Heavy Mumbai rains to continue, city surpasses monthly mean

The commercial capital of the country, Mumbai has been receiving intense rainfall activities for the past few days. Moreover, during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Santa Cruz recorded 99 mm of rains. This led to a total of 908 mm until 8:30 am today against 919.9 mm of monthly normal rains.

Today, we expect heavy rains to continue with showers being slightly heavier tomorrow compared to today. These showers can cause disruption in terms of waterlogging, commutation issues, and air and rail traffic being affected. In fact, residents should prepare for more rain related woes as heavy showers will continue for a couple of more days. Day after tomorrow, there may be a slight reduction in the rain. Thereafter, there may be some ease out in terms of heavy showers.

Between 8:30 am and 11:30 am today, Santa Cruz saw another 14 mm of rain which has resulted in the actual monthly total to 922 mm, surpassing the monthly mean of July. Thus, rains in July for Mumbai are definitely surpassing the 1000 mm mark very soon.
