Mumbai rains despite a weak performance in between, once again picked up pace resulting in heavy to very heavy showers over the city. Heavy rains during the last few days have increased rain figures for the month of June, but they have also resulted in various kinds of problems including traffic chaos as well as waterlogging in many areas.
In a first this year, an auto driver in the Borivali after a big branch of a tree fell on his vehicle during the early morning hours of Saturday. In Jogeshwari East, near the Hanuman Mandir, a few decades old foot over bridge collapsed after heavy rains lashed the city. Due to this, minor injuries were suffered by a 45-year old man.

The last 24 hours were quite rainy for the maximum city as well. In a span of 21 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Santa Cruz observatory recorded a good 36 mm of rain. Good rains were also witnessed at the Colaba observatory.

In the first two days itself, Mumbai has been able to record over 120 mm of rain making the daunting target of a whopping 799.7 mm as July’s monthly average, not a very difficult one.
As per weathermen at Skymet, moderate to heavy showers are expected to continue over Mumbai for at least the next 24 hours. The possibility of a few sharp showers cannot be ruled out.
