While rains were moderate in nature about a day ago, Monsoon showers have picked up even more pace in the past 24 hours.

These Mumbai rains can be attributed to the presence of a well-marked low-pressure area which is presently over West Madhya Pradesh and adjoining East Rajasthan.

Also, the off shore trough along the West Coast has been activated and is presently running from Maharashtra up to Kerala region. With this, moisture incursion due to strong southwesterly winds have increased resulting in good rains.

As per weathermen at Skymet, more Mumbai rains are expected to continue. In fact, the showers will remain between moderate to heavy only. Also, there are chances of a few sharp spells of rain also in some parts of the city.
