Mumbai rains that had not made an appearance since long have made a comeback once again. Yesterday saw some moderate showers. In fact, in the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Monday, Santa Cruz observatory recorded a good 49 mm of rainfall. Thane also saw 42 mm of rains during the same time frame.
Today Mumbai since early morning hours has been receiving heavy rains with very little breaks in between. In fact, as per Skymet Weather, these Mumbai rains are expected to remain heavy throughout the day.
The possibility of 3 digit rain over the commercial capital of India cannot be ruled out as well. Commuters are likely to face a lot of trouble while travelling as traffic chaos and waterlogging may be observed in some parts.
The low pressure area is currently over Northwest Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining West Vidarbha region. This system has activated the monsoon surge along the konkan region which will further result in more rains over Mumbai and adjoining areas.
Mumbai rains are expected to slightly reduce tomorrow and witness a further reduction on September 2nd. However, the weather is not expected to go dry throughout the week and rainfall activity of some intensity will be seen due to the low pressure area and activation of monsoon surge.
