The wait for good Monsoon showers has finally come to an end, with spell of heavy downpour approaching rain-deprived Gujarat and Rajasthan.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, a low pressure over West Madhya Pradesh is expected to move westwards giving good rainfall over Southeast Rajasthan and East and Central parts of Gujarat.
Skymet forecasts, rain will start lashing parts of western states during the next 24 hours and is expected to continue till next two to three days. By July 23, rain belt will also cover more parts of the states.
Southeast Rajasthan has been receiving on and off Monsoon showers but they have been very light in intensity.
Most parts of Gujarat have not received any significant rain since June 25. Before that it had received heavy to very rain on account of a depression in Arabian Sea. After that, no weather system has developed in Arabian Sea that could give some weather over the state.
This has kept the Western arm of the Monsoon trough weak and hence, the rain activity has been subdued over the region. At present, Saurashtra and Kutch region is rain deficit by 30 per cent and Gujarat region is by 50 per cent.
