Heavy Monsoon rains over Telangana for next 24 hours

Telangana including Hyderabad has been blessed with relentless Monsoon showers from past three days.

These rains can be attributed to the well-marked low-pressure area which is prevailing over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Telangana. Moreover, a trough in the lower levels is extending from Northwest India up to the centre of the well-marked low-pressure area via Vidarbha and Telangana.

In wake of this, Hyderabad has recorded 73 mm rains in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 on Thursday, followed by Nizamabad 39 mm and Hanamkonda 26 mm.

As per Skymet Weather, these good rains will continue over several parts of Telangana for another 24 hours. Thereafter, the weather system is likely to move gradually towards west. With this, the rain intensity will reduce over the state. However, light to moderate showers will continue over Telangana for at least next 2-3 days.

So far this Southwest Monsoon, the state has recorded 749 mm of rain against the normal average rainfall of 713.4 mm. At present, the cumulative rainfall deficiency for Telangana stands at 5%. However, with more rains approaching, we expect the state to cover up the deficiency a bit more and march towards normal rains.
