Southwest Monsoon has made its onset over Himachal Pradesh and since then it has been pouring rain over the state. Heavy rains were witnessed by most of the major region which has made the weather extremely pleasant.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday Nahan recorded heavy rain of 116 mm, Dharamshala 62 mm, Manali 37 mm while Shimla recorded moderate rain of 22 mm and Una 12.6 mm. Other districts also witnessed light rains.

These heavy rains can be attributed to the Western Disturbance which prevailed over eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir and a cyclonic circulation which persisted over Northern Punjab.

At present, the persisting Western Disturbance is moving away across Jammu and Kashmir. Due to which the intensity of rain is likely to reduce but scattered light to moderate rain will continue in some pockets of the state.

However, the threat of landslide looms large over the higher reaches due to the loosening of soil. Temperatures may increase marginally but pleasant weather conditions are likely to prevail over the region for the next few days.

We can expect the rain intensity to increase by July 17. It is a good time to move to the hills of Himachal and enjoy its beauty as the situations are favorable.
