Ever since the onset of Southwest Monsoon, Mumbai has been witnessing torrential rains. Moreover, heavy showers will continue to lash the city for some more days.
So far, city has recorded 236 mm of rain. But in spite of ongoing heavy rains, Mumbai is still below the halfway mark of monthly average rain of 523 mm.
Much awaited Monsoon had arrived over the city on June 12, which was slightly later than its official date of June 10. But after making the onset, it has been continuously giving good rainfall over the city.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, an off-shore trough along the West Coast of India has kept the Monsoon active over the city. The system will keep giving moderate to heavy rains over Mumbai during next two to three days as well. Thereafter, intensity of rain will reduce for a brief period.

We expect rains to pick up once again when the low pressure area that is developing over Andhra coast, will move westwards. This system will once again give good rains over Mumbai and with this we expect city to inch closer towards its monthly normal.
The wet spell has brought huge relief from the scorching heat but humidity levels have increased. From 55 per cent last week, humidity in the city surged to 91 per cent on Tuesday.
However, evenings are extremely pleasant with sea breeze blowing over the city.
