Hyderabad has been receiving good showers for the last couple of days. This could be attributed to the Monsoon trough, which has been running close to Telangana.
The capital city received heavy rains on Wednesday afternoon as well. The latest weather models (at about 3.45 pm on July 27) are showing heavy showers over Shamshabad region, in the suburbs of Hyderabad.
Traffic snarls have been reported from several parts of the city. Places suffering the most from traffic congestion include Banjara Hills, Toli Chowki, Mehdipatnam, Begumpet, Madhapur, Secunderabad, Raj Bhavan Road, Nacharam, Srinagar Colony, Masab Tank, Langerhouz, Nampally, Mozamjahi Market and Aramgarh bridge.
In a span of 24 hours, from 8.30 am on Tuesday, Hyderabad has received 10.6 mm of rainfall. So far in July, the city has received 162 mm against the monthly normal of 179.2 mm.
The cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha and adjoining areas has moved a little towards the west. But, the trough extending from this region remains close to Telangana. Therefore, moderate spells of rainfall will continue over Hyderabad and adjoining areas for another 2 to 3 days. With predictions of more rainfall in Hyderabad, seems like the city will easily achieve its monthly mean target of 179.2 mm.
At present, widespread good showers are going on over entire Telangana. The image above shows the live lightning report. The yellow icons suggest lightning strikes across Telangana. The green and blue patches indicate thunderclouds hovering over the region.
