Heavy Monsoon rains lash East Rajasthan

August 20, 2016 12:09 PM |

Rain in RajasthanThe state of Rajasthan has been witnessing on and off rains. Last week had spilled several spells of good rains over the state. However, Monsoon rains took a backseat and the desert state started to witness dry weather conditions once again.

However, Southwest Monsoon once again became active over eastern parts of the state. In fact good Monsoon rains have been lashing the state for the past 48 hours. While the rain intensity was light to moderate a day before, rains have picked up pace during the past 24 hours.

Heavy to very heavy Monsoon rains have been lashing the region during this period. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Jhalawar recorded a whopping 98 mm of rain followed by Baran where 94 mm of rain was received. Other areas to have received good Monsoon rains include Chittorgarh 44 mm, Kota 41.6 mm, Bundi 37 mm, and Sawai Madhopur 20 mm.

These Monsoon rains can be attributed to the deep depression which is currently stationed over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Rajasthan region. During the next 24 hours, this weather system is expected to weaken and move westwards.

Thus, parts of Rajasthan is expected to receive good Monsoon rains during the next 24 to 48 hours.  At present, the state of Rajasthan is already witnessing surplus rains and these showers will only increase the figures.
