Heavy Monsoon rains lash Bihar

Monsoon seems to be active in parts of East India. Off late, Bihar has witnessed heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. As of now, conditions seems favorable for Monsoon to remain active in parts of Bihar and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh for at least another 48 hrs.

As per Skymet Weather, there are possibility of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places and heavy rain and thundershowers in few pockets of Bihar. This situation is likely to continue till June 24. Thereafter, intensity of rains will reduce and rain activities will shift towards Uttar Pradesh. There is also possibility of squally average winds of 50 kmph gusting at 70 kmph during the next 24 hours in this region.

Though Monsoon has covered entire Bihar but still severe thundershowers are continuing over the area. Normally, during Monsoon, thundershower activities gradually transforms into continuous rains which usually occur due to low and medium clouds.

Due to severe thunderstorms, lightning becomes very common in parts of Chota Nagpur region and adjoining Bihar. Similar incident also happened in Bihar on June 21, 2016 where many people lost their lives due to lightning strikes.

These figures indicate that Monsoon is transformed from active to vigorous. In fact, Nepal has also witnessed hefty showers. If these heavy rainy spells in parts of Bihar and Nepal continues, there are possibility of flood like situations in parts of Bihar.
