In a span of four days, Bangalore has recorded over 135 mm of rainfall, which happens to be about 30 mm more than its monthly rainfall in July. However, rainfall intensity and spread both have been more during the last 24 hours.
Bangalore Airport has recorded a whopping 71 mm of rain, which means widespread rainfall has occurred over the silicon city during the last 24 hours. In fact, temperatures have also witnessed a drop and are settling close to the normal levels.
Not only this, residents complained of traffic woes as many areas were waterlogged.
These heavy and prolonged spell of rains can be attributed to a trough which is running from Central India up to Tamil Nadu across South Interior Karnataka. Rainfall activity was enhanced due to Bangalore being in close proximity of this weather feature.
So far, Bangalore has recorded 195.7 mm of rain against its monthly average rains of 108.9 mm of rain. Good rains are expected to continue lashing Bangalore for another 24 hours. However, intensity is expected to reduce thereafter, as the trough is expected to shift in an eastward direction.
