The city of Ahmedabad has been witnessing good rains for the last few days. In fact, the last week of June has been good enough for one of the largest cities of Gujarat. Light to moderate rains had been a common affair in Ahmedabad during this time period.

However, one thing that the city had not seen in quite a long time was a few spells of heavy rains. Moderate showers would make an appearance but heavy showers had shied away from the city.

However, the last 24 hours were quite a rainy affair for the city. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Ahmedabad recorded a whopping 39 mm of rainfall which happens to be the first heavy spell of this Monsoon season.

These weather conditions have been attributed to the offshore trough which is running from South Gujarat up to Lakshadweep region. A cyclonic circulation is over Southeast Rajasthan and adjoining Kutch region. The combined effects of these weather systems are giving rains over Ahmedabad and adjoining areas.
