Heavy Monsoon rains in Ratnagiri, Harnai, Colaba, Alibag, Goa and Honavar during next 24 hrs

Southwest Monsoon has been giving heavy rains all along the West Coast for quite some time now. During the last 24 hours, the South Konkan and Goa region has observed heavy to very heavy rain and thundershower activities. Similarly, north coastal areas of Karnataka have observed heavy rains, while light to moderate rains were recorded over the remaining parts of coastal Karnataka and North Kerala coast.

In the last 24 hours, from 8:30 am on Saturday, Vengurla has recorded 162 mm of rainfall, followed by Matheran 154 mm, Ratnagiri 122 mm and Mahabaleshwar 118 mm of rainfall.

According to Skymet Weather, Southwest Monsoon is likely to remain vigorous along the Konkan and Goa Coast. Moreover, the presence of a Cyclonic Circulation over South Gujarat and adjoining the Northeast Bay of Bengal will give very heavy rains over the Konkan Coast during the next 18 to 24 hours. Thereafter, rains will taper over the region and continue as moderate to heavy in intensity.

Places like Ratnagiri, Harnai, Sindhudurg, Colaba, Alibag, Goa, Honavar will get to see heavy rainfall activities while other places like Mangaluru, Kozhikode, and Udupi may get moderate showers. The city of dreams, Mumbai will observe heavy rains for the next 18 to 24 hours.

After 24 hours, due to the presence of a Low-Pressure Area over North Bay of Bengal, the rainfall activities would decrease along the West Coast, as the moisture incursion would remain around this system only.

Talking about the other regions of Maharashtra, South Madhya Maharashtra has observed heavy to very heavy rains during the last 24 hours, while Vidarbha and the northern parts of Maharashtra have experienced moderate to heavy rainfall. On the contrary, light to moderate rains were recorded over Marathwada and central parts of Madhya Maharashtra during the last 24 hours.

Now, as the Low-Pressure Area has been formed Northeast Bay of Bengal, the Vidarbha region will experience moderate rains during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, rainfall activities would increase even more as the above system would start moving west/northwestwards. Places like Gondia, Nagpur, Bhandara, Yavatmal, Akola, Amravati and Parbhani will observe heavy rains.

Meanwhile, other regions such as Marathwada and the northwestern parts of Maharashtra will get to see moderate rain and thundershowers for the next few days.
