Southwest Monsoon has made a timely onset over Maharashtra and the state have been witnessing good Monsoon rains for the past few days. Not only this, Pune has also been recording rain and thundershower activities, in fact, during the last 24 hours, heavy Monsoon rains have been observed over the ‘Oxford of the East’.
In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am, Pune witnessed a whopping 43 mm of rainfall. During the similar time frame, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 33°C, which is just a mere one degree above the normal level. Likewise, the minimum temperature stands at 23°C.

These weather conditions can be attributed to the presence of an off shore running along the West Coast from South Maharashtra to Kerala Coast. Besides this, the Monsoon surge is currently active over the Madhya Maharashtra region. In fact, the entire Madhya Maharashtra is recording good Monsoon rains.
According to Skymet Weather, light Monsoon rains will continue over Pune for the next 24 hours as well. The normal average rainfall of the Youth City of India for the month of June stands at 116.1 mm and till date, it has recorded rainfall to the tune of 164.7 mm.

During the Monsoon season, the coastal parts of Maharashtra records very heavy rainfall. In fact, three digit rains are also witnessed over the region. On the other hand, rains remain on the lower side with heavy showers making an appearance over Pune during an active Monsoon surge period.
