In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Monday, northern districts of Chhattisgarh recorded moderate to heavy rains. During this period Sheopur and Datia recorded 28 mm and 51 mm of rains, respectively. While scattered rains were seen over the southern region of the state.

The axis of Monsoon Trough which is passing through North Madhya Pradesh (Gwalior) is responsible for these rains.

Moreover, the Trough is also extending from South Gujarat up to Bay of Bengal across South Madhya Pradesh. The Low-Pressure Area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal will move in west direction; therefore, we expect rain activities to increase initially over the eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh and then over parts of Chhattisgarh.

Post this, moderate to heavy Monsoon rains will be seen over many parts of the state. According to weathermen at Skymet, the rains will be a little intense over Bilaspur, Raigarh, and Korba in Chhattisgarh. Whereas, Dindori, Umaria, Jabalpur, Mandla, Damoh, Seoni, Narsinghpur and Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh are very likely to record heavy rains during the next two to three days.

After 48 hours, that is around August 8, the rainfall activities will reduce over Chhattisgarh and will increase over Central and the western districts of Madhya Pradesh. During this period, places like Vidisha, Bhopal, Raisen, Ujjain, and Indore will record some rain.
