Rain in delhi

Good Monsoon rains continue to drench Delhi, as city recorded moderate to heavy showers during the last 24 hours as well. Well this is not all, as we can expect these showers to continue over the national capital region on Friday as well.

With 53.6 mm, Aaya Nagar recorded the highest rainfall in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday. This was followed by Faridabad 18 mm, Najafgarh 8 mm, Pusa 7 mm, Palam 6 mm, Lodhi Road 4.2 mm, and Safdarjung 4.3 mm.

According to Skymet Weather, widespread rains continued throughout the day on Thursday across most parts of Delhi-NCR. On Friday also, sky remains cloudy and overcast, making weather conditions favourable for rains to begin anytime.

At present, Noida has already started raining and we expect other places to follow soon.

Several Monsoon systems have been affecting the weather over Delhi. Firstly, a cyclonic circulation is prevailing over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and East Rajasthan. The axis of Monsoon trough is also running through northern plains in close proximity to Delhi-NCR.

In addition to this, a Western Disturbance was moving across Delhi-NCR and another fresh Disturbance is seen following this. The interaction between all these systems have been pounding rains over the city.

Further, the cyclonic circulation is now likely to move northwards, shifting closer to Delhi. With this, moderate showers will continue across the state, with few heavy spells in between. These rains are likely to continue for next 48 hours.

This prolonged spell of rains has pulled the mercury down significantly, paving way for pleasant weather conditions. As of now, both the maximum and minimum temperatures are settling below the normal average temperatures.
