Moderate to heavy rains are going on over the Southern and Eastern districts of Madhya Pradesh for the last few days. During the last 24 hours, torrential rain and thundershower occurred over many parts of Madhya Pradesh leading to flash floods and waterlogging.
During the last 24 hours, Indore recorded very heavy rain of 263 mm, followed by Bhopal which recorded 211 mm, Hoshangabad 182 mm, Raisen 147 mm, Dhar 104 mm, Khandwa 93 mm, Betul 49 mm, and Sagar 53 mm of rain. This can be termed as one of the heaviest rain episodes over Madhya Pradesh during this season.
Well marked low pressure area which was over eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh has shifted to central and western districts. Now, this well marked low pressure area will weaken into a low and will continue its westward moment to Gujarat, and rain activities will reduce. The South Western districts of Madhya Pradesh will continue to receive moderate to heavy downpour until tonight. Ujjain, Indore, Dewas, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Alirajpur, Jhabua, and Dhar districts of Madhya Pradesh will get heavy rains today as well.
By the end of this rain episode Madhya Pradesh will overcome its rain deficiency. These heavy rains will certainly boost the farmers. Some of the western districts of Madhya Pradesh facing drought-like conditions. Heavy rain in catchment areas will increase the water level in reservoirs as well as in dams.
