In the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained active over Odisha. Monsoon rains splashed the state with moderate to heavy rains across the state. The interior parts of the state recorded intense Monsoon showers. However, the coastal areas of the state have to manage with light spells only.
In the span of 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday Sambalpur recorded heavy rainfall of 75.3 mm, Phulbani 47 mm, Jharsuguda 34.8 mm, Koraput 22 mm. While, Bhubaneshwar witnessed light rain of 13.2 mm, Bhawanipatna 16 mm, Gopalpur 11.2 mm and Paradip 5.4 mm.

These rainfall activities are likely to continue over the state. As per Skymet Weather, a trough is extending from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Coastal Odisha. In the wake of this, more Monsoon rains are expected to lash Odisha.

Another trough in the upper level from mid-tropospheric to upper tropospheric level is extending along the Odisha coast. This weather system will also splash rains across parts of the state. The intensity of rainfall will be moderate and will mostly occur over the southern parts of the state.
Cities like Koraput, Phulbani and Bhawanipatna will continue receiving heavy rains. While light to moderate rains will lash many places along the coast.
As on June 21, Odisha is rain deficient by 10%. Temperatures will remain warm and humid across the state while moderate to strong winds will give some relief from the humidity.
