The state of Maharashtra has been enjoying good Monsoon rains for the past few days. So much so that two days ago, the city recorded a good moderate spell of 28 mm. Not only this, Pune has observed heavy Monsoon showers during the last 24 hours.
In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am, Pune witnessed a whopping 56 mm of rain which happens to be the first heavy spell of Monsoon rains in the city. Maximum temperatures are settling close to normal levels at 32 degrees while minimums were two notches below the normal levels at 20 degrees.

These weather conditions can be attributed to the present Monsoon surge which is currently active over the Maharashtra region. In fact, the entire Madhya Maharashtra and parts of Vidarbha have witnessed good Monsoon rains.
As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, Monsoon rains of light to moderate intensity will continue over Pune for the next 24 to 48 hours. A few sharp spells also cannot be ruled out over the Queen of the Deccan.

Usually, during the Monsoon season, the coastal areas of Maharashtra receive very heavy rains. In fact, three digit rains are also witnessed over these areas. However, as far as Pune is concerned, rains remain on the lower side with heavy showers making an appearance over the city during an active Monsoon surge period.
