Vigorous monsoon activities have been continuing over the entire West Coast right from South Gujarat to Kerala. Heavy rains have been lashing the across the entire coast.
An offshore trough is persisting from South Gujarat to Kerala since last many days. Due to this Monsoon surge is also active along the west coast. This offshore trough is a semi-permanent feature during monsoon season. This trough becomes active and weak periodically.

The monsoon surge also depends on the weakening and strengthening of this trough. A low-pressure area has also developed over Saurashtra, Kutch and adjoining the Arabian Sea.
In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday, Alibag recorded heavy rain of 199 mm, Mahabaleshwar 96 mm, Ratnagiri 76 mm, Mumbai 91 mm, Thane 56 mm, Veraval 52 mm, Mangalore 52.6 mm, Agumbe 66 mm, Honavar 61.1 mm, Karwar 56.8 mm while, moderate rain was recorded in Dhanau and Kannur.

Now we expect that good Monsoon rains will continue over many parts of Gujarat particular southern parts, Konkan and Goa and Kerala for at least three days.
Though the intensity of rains may decrease for a short duration but it will pick up pace again. Therefore we can say that good Monsoon rains will continue over the entire West Coast for the next one week or so.
