In a rapid move to cover entire India, Southwest Monsoon paced quickly in June and covered the entire country by June 25. Though parts of East India including Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand had to wait for moderate to heavy Monsoon rains. The Southwest Monsoon is presently filling that gap as it has given good rainfall over parts of eastern India in last 24-48 hours.
According to Skymet Meterology Division in India, a Monsoon trough is persisting from North Punjab to Bay of Bengal which is giving heavy Monsoon showers over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha.
During the last 24 hours, for instance, Patna received 39 mm of rain, Daltonganj observed 27 mm of rain, Ranchi recorded 27 mm of rain and Jamshedpur received 29 mm rain. Parts of West Bengal to receive good rain includes Kolkata with 27.6 mm, Jalpaiguri 37.2 mm, Burdwan 14.3 mm.

Moderate to heavy showers were observed in parts of Odisha that includes Gopalpur 6 mm, Koraput 4 mm, Paradip 18.8 mm and Phulbani 47.8 mm of rain.
Due to the continuous rain in past couple of days, temperatures have dropped marginally over several places by 1-2 degrees Celsius. As Skymet forecast some more Monsoon rains over the East India, temperatures ae expected to drop further, bringing in relief form the hot weather in the coming few days.
