Several parts of Uttar Pradesh, especially west and central parts, have been recording heavy to very heavy Monsoon rainfall during last 48 hours. In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Hardoi recorded 171 mm of rain followed by Bareilly at 117 mm and Lucknow 76.1 mm.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, several weather systems are responsible for fairly widespread Monsoon rains across the state. Active Monsoon trough is passing though the state along with low pressure area which has now intensified into a depression has been influencing the Monsoon surge.

However the depression, which is presently over West Uttar Pradesh adjoining Haryana and Delhi, will now move in north-northwest direction and will eventually weaken into a low pressure area during next 24 hours.

Therefore, intensity of rains will reduce over most of the Uttar Pradesh by July 13. Meanwhile, parts of east Uttar Pradesh will continue to witness good rainfall as Monsoon trough will be passing through the foothills of Himalayas.

In wake of the reduced weather activity, maximum temperatures that have been settling well below normal, will start rising gradually. Moreover, increased levels of moisture in the air will add to the discomfort of the people.
