As predicted by Skymet Weather, the intensity of Monsoon rain has significantly increased in parts of Maharashtra. And during the last 24 hours, moderate rains with one or two heavy spells have lashed parts of Konkan and Goa as well as Vidarbha. In fact, good rains have been going on in the Konkan region since the last two days. Meanwhile, the region of Vidarbha has observed a significant increase in its rainfall activities, with Nagpur reporting heavy rains during the last 24 hours.
On the other hand, Madhya Maharashtra has received light rains while isolated showers have been reported over Marathwada.
In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Nagpur has recorded 108 mm, followed by Mahabaleshwar 67 mm, Gondia 49 mm, Santa Cruz (Mumbai) and Vengurla 44mm each, Bramhapuri 42 mm, Alibag 35 mm, Chandrapur and Ratnagiri 34 mm each and Nashik 32 mm of rainfall.
A Cyclonic Circulation is currently over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. This system is likely to induce a Low-Pressure Area. The system will then move in the westerly direction towards Telangana and Vidarbha, thus enhancing rainfall activities.
Thus, moderate rains with a few heavy spells are likely to continue in Konkan and Goa, while light to moderate showers will lash Vidarbha, Marathwada as well as the western districts of Madhya Maharashtra, adjacent to Konkan and Goa. These activities are expected during the next 24 to 48 hours.
Thereafter, the rainfall activities would intensify even further and North Madhya Maharashtra, as well as parts of Vidarbha such as Akola, Amravati, and Jalgaon, may get heavy rains. Meanwhile, good rains will continue in Nagpur for another two days.
However, Monsoon rains will be comparatively less over Parbhani, Latur, Jalna, and Hingoli, but a few spells of light to moderate rains cannot be ruled out.
Mumbai rains have occurred with reduced intensity during the last 24 hours. However, the conditions are favorable for moderate rains with one or two intense spells during the next 24 hours. The intensity thereafter will go down and rains will become light with chances of some moderate spells.
