The West Coast continued with light to moderate rainfall activity mainly over the Konkan region throughout the week. Meanwhile, southern parts of the West Coast received heavy rain showers.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Mangalore recorded 99 mm of rain, followed by Mahabaleshwar 61 mm, Punalur 27 mm, Kozhikode 22 mm, Karipur 20 mm, Kannur and Alappuzha 18 mm, Mumbai and Honnavar 16 mm, Karwar 13 mm, Panjim 11 mm and Alibagh 6 mm.
At present, a feeble off-shore trough is seen extending from South Konkan to North Kerala. Therefore, we expect rainfall activity to reduce over Kerala for the next 24 hours. But good rainfall activity is expected over South Konkan and Karnataka Coast. In fact, North Konkan may also receive moderate rains.
In Maharashtra, Vidarbha received good rains, during the last 24 hours. However, rains are now expected to reduce over these areas as only light rains will occur including Marathwada region. Scattered light rains may also occur in parts of Madhya Maharashtra.
Places such as Mangalore, Agumbe, Goa, Ratnagiri and Mahabaleshwar will witness heavy rains. The economic capital of the country, Mumbai will witness moderate rain showers.
