Heavy fog and snow brings China to standstill

Winter storms have triggered heavy snow and fog across northeast China bringing life to a standstill. Road and air Traffic are the worst hit, as the visibility across the province has dropped to 100 meters.

According to local media reports, three people have been killed in road accidents due to poor visibility conditions. On Wednesday, inclement weather conditions led to partial shut down of 14 highways and complete closure of Taoxian International Airport in Shenyang for some time.

Nine flights were reported to be cancelled and around 47 flights were delayed. Most flights to Shenyang had been cancelled or delayed for the day.

In wake of bad weather conditions and safety measures, local authorities have closed schools and universities.

The region, at present is witnessing sharp decline in the maximum and minimum temperatures. As per Skymet Meteorology Division in India, mild snow will continue over the region for the next two days.
