As predicted by Skymet Weather, the much-awaited Delhi rains lashed parts of the national capital and its adjoining areas on Friday, September 22. These rains were a boon for the Delhiites who had been whirling under warm and sunny weather almost from the beginning of the month. In fact, many parts of Delhi and NCR are at present also witnessing rains.
These rains ushered pleasant weather conditions due to thick clouding across the city with the maximum dropping by a good 7-9 degrees. The amount of rainfall that Delhi had relished in the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday is given in the table below:
Counting on these good rains, the Safdarjung Observatory has till date recorded 157.7 mm of rains as against its monthly total of 129.8 mm. With this, the Safdarjung Observatory had already surpassed its monthly mean. While the Palam Observatory’s monthly mean stands at 105.3 mm and the observatory had recorded 89.4 mm of rains.
Skymet Weather further predicts that intermittent rain activity is likely to continue over Delhi and the adjoining Noida, Faridabad, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad for the next few hours today. Thus, Delhiites will get to see another rainy day today. However, a short break towards the late afternoon and evening hours is also anticipated. A pleasant night is also on cards for Delhi and NCR.

In fact, people of Delhi and NCR may get to see cloudy to the partly cloudy sky along with short spell thundershowers are possible tomorrow towards late afternoon as well. Alongside, the battle with waterlogged roads and traffic snarls will also continue to bother the locals.
As per Skymet Weather, these moderate to heavy rains in parts of Delhi and NCR can be associated with the Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area which was over North Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Southwest Uttar Pradesh.

However, now, this weather system has shifted northwards and is presently seen over West Uttar Pradesh and adjoining area. This weather system is expected to shift further northeastwards and will fade away gradually after 24 hours thus leading to a reduction in clouding.
This will further lead to increase in the maximum temperatures which may reach close to 30 degrees once again. However, still comfortable weather will prevail over Delhi and NCR and good rains will once again take a backseat.
In a nutshell, these rains can be the last good rainy spell of the season with the possibility of light isolated patchy showers only.
