The city of Chennai is all set to see a few days of heavy rains. These rains will be attributed to the weather system that has come up over the Bay of Bengal. The system is currently a low-pressure area and is likely to become a depression by tomorrow evening hours.
In view of the system moving westward and intensifying, the city of Chennai will see heavy to very heavy rains in the coming days. Squally winds will start to blow over the region on December 6th itself. Rains will be moderate on 7th, getting heavier. Rainfall activity is expected to peak on December 8, wherein heavy to very heavy rains will be seen. Moreover, December 9 will also see heavy rains.
During the first five days of December there has been hardly any rains. Minimal rains been seen to the tune of 13 mm at the Minambakkam observatory and almost no rains at the Nungambakkam observatory. Isolated moderate rains will be seen today and tomorrow, because of southeasterly stream of winds. Wind speed will be on the stronger side.
