This year, the month of August didn’t turned out to be too good for the Cyber city of India in terms of precipitation. Traces of rain along with a few light spells were observed over Bengaluru. There were two or three occasions, when the garden city managed to see moderate showers.

On the other hand, yesterday it seems that the rain gods bequeathed their kindness over the city as heavy rains of 129 mm lashed Bengaluru. Several parts of the city were flooded and water-logged, creating chaos and making commute difficult. This was the highest rainfall recorded in this month.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, these showers were due to the cyclonic circulation over South Tamil Nadu Coast. Also, another cyclonic circulation was over Lakshadweep and adjoining areas. So the combined effect of these weather features poured heavy rains over the Karnataka capital.

Rains have once again reduced over the region as in a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday; Bengaluru recorded 31 mm of rainfall.

At present, a north south trough is running from Rayalaseema to South Tamil Nadu across South Interior Karnataka. Thus, light to moderate rains will continue for the next few days. In wake of these showers the weather will remain contented and the sky will remain partly cloudy to cloudy. Not much change is likely in temperatures, day temperatures will settle around 27°C or 28°C, while minimums may ranger around 19°C or 20°C.

Till August 15, Bengaluru has recorded 174 mm of rains against the monthly average rainfall of 147 mm. It is marked that the IT Capital of India has already exceeded its monthly average rainfall with a good difference.
