Heatwave conditions are persisting over parts of Delhi and adjoining regions of Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad. The residents are experiencing extremely uneasy weather conditions as the temperatures are crossing 45°C mark.

On Thursday, the Safdarjung observatory recorded its day temperature at 43.0°C and the Palam observatory recorded its maximum at 44.1°C. Ayanagar and Ridge also recorded their maximum temperatures at 43.2°C and 41.9°C, respectively.

These unfavorable weather conditions are prevailing due to the hot and dry northwesterly winds which have been blowing over Delhi and NCR for the past two to three days.

However, with the flow of northwesterly winds over Delhi and NCR, we expect dry and hot weather with clear sky conditions to continue to prevail during the next three to four days. In fact, hot moderate winds are also expected to blow during the day time.

Thus, the temperatures are likely to settle in mid-40’s and may also settle above 45 degrees over some parts. Therefore, heatwave conditions are expected to prevail over Delhi now.

Relief is expected by the end of month when pre-Monsoon activities are expected resume back over Delhi and adjoining regions of Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad. Until then, scorching heat will continue to trouble the residents.
