Heatwave to persist over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Telangana

When most parts of the country are enjoying pre-Monsoon rains, there are some states that are still reeling under heatwave conditions. Few states in Central, East and South India are still wrapped up under heatwave conditions.

Such weather conditions can be attributed to absence of any significant weather system which could some relief from the scorching heat. At present, interior parts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha region of Maharashtra and isolated pockets of Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh are enveloped under this sultry weather.

During the last 24 hours, Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh recorded a maximum of 45°C, while Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh witnessed a day temperature of 44.9°C. Districts in Telangana such as Ramagundam recorded 44°C and Nizamabad 44.5°C.

According to Skymet Weather, no relief is expected over these areas for the next 24 to 48 hours. However, thereafter, pre-Monsoon showers will make an appearance over the regions. In wake of this, temperatures may curtail down by 2 to 3°C.

Moreover, now the maximum temperatures are likely to scale up over entire Northwestern plains including Delhi and NCR. Parts of West Rajasthan, Jharkhand and East Uttar Pradesh will also reel under the heatwave conditions. In fact, in last 24 hours, Daltonganj recorded a maximum of 44.4°C and Varanasi 42.1°C.
