Heatwave to return in Nagpur, Akola, Nanded, Parbhani; harvest summer crops

The weather of Maharashtra has been almost dry for the last many days now. It is due to this prevalent dry weather conditions that most parts of the state are reeling under intense summer heat.

Though recent pre-Monsoon activities in the neighboring regions led to drop in the mercury, the day temperatures still settled above the 40-degree mark.

As per Skymet Weather, the weather of Maharashtra is likely to remain dry for the next couple of days and with dry northwesterly winds blowing, most parts of the state would reel under hot weather conditions. These winds are originating from the desert region in Rajasthan that is also ready witnessed extremely hot weather conditions.

In the wake of this, the temperatures are likely to soar once again. In fact, heatwave conditions could also make a comeback in parts of Vidarbha, North Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada. Meanwhile parts of South Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan is likely to remain warm and humid.

Thus, the stations like Chandrapur, Bramhapuri, Nagpur, Akola, Nanded, Parbhani, Jalgaon, and Malegaon may brace for the heatwave again.

Skymet Weather further states that a trough is extending from North Telangana to South Tamil Nadu, touching parts of Vidarbha and South Madhya Maharashtra. As moisture levels increase over the area, light thunderstorm activities in parts of Vidarbha is expected.

Some isolated rain activities may also occur over South Madhya Maharashtra and South Konkan region. Mumbai can expect a marginal rise in the temperatures.

At this stage, let us see the impact of this weather on the agriculture belt of Maharashtra: 

Due to continuous dry and hot weather over most parts of Maharashtra, farmers are recommended to begin harvesting of Summer crops like Paddy, Groundnut and Maize.

Farmers are also advised to continue harvesting of Mango, Orange, Sweet orange and other fruit crops. Due to expected thunderstorm activity in Vidarbha region, farmers are suggested to stay cautious. Wherever harvesting of field crops is completed, start preparation for Kharif season by taking deep ploughing, cleaning, and leveling of fields.
