Heatwave to abate from most parts of India

Weather has taken a unique turn as the unrelenting heatwave is expected to leave from most parts of the country. The temperatures that were 5-6 degree Celsius above normal over many parts of India are likely to settle close to normal now.

Since last many days, most parts of West Rajasthan and some parts of South Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra were reeling under heatwave conditions. In last 24 hours, due to continuous flow of southwesterly winds from Arabian Sea, temperatures over Gujarat and West Rajasthan have dropped leading to abatement of heatwave at some places. Parts of Haryana and Punjab witnessed a drop in temperature in due to the recent rainfall activity.

We expect further drop in temperatures over Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. However, only isolated pockets of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Vidarbha will continue with heatwave conditions for another 2 days. According to Skymet Weather Chief Meteorologist Mahesh Palawat, “we expect abatement of heatwave from most parts of country. But this relief for intense heatwave is not likely to stay for long.”

This drop in temperature is unlikely to last for a long time. Temperatures are expected to once again start rising from April 10 and heatwave may make a comeback around the same time.
