Parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat were reeling under severe heatwave due to absence of any significant weather system. Maximum temperatures that were settling close to 50°C in Phalodi, Ahmedabad, and other areas were shattering all weather records in past few days. The reason for this excruciatingly hot weather was dry winds flowing from Pakistan region where weather was extremely hot and temperatures were exceptionally high.
The situation, however, has improved in these areas as cyclonic circulation over North Central Arabian Sea is bringing moderate southwesterly winds over Rajasthan and Gujarat. Maximum temperature in these areas has come down to near normal and this trend is likely to remain arrested for next few days.
There are chances of light rain in Gujarat during 24-48 hours due to this cyclonic circulation while Rajasthan will remain dry during this period.
