The state of Gujarat has been continuously witnessing temperatures above the normal levels. So much so that maximums are on a constant rise and may soon reach 40 degrees Celsius.
Today, many parts in Gujarat saw heatwave like conditions with coastal parts seeing heatwave making an appearance. Veraval recorded 38.9 degrees (7 degrees above normal), Bhuj 38.6 degrees (4 degrees above normal), Kandla 38.6 degrees (7 degrees above normal), Porbandar 38.6 degrees (6 degrees above normal), Rajkot 38.3 degrees (4 degrees above normal), Amreli 37.4 degrees.
Some of the coastal stations which are witnessing maximums above the 37 degree mark, it does amount to heatwave if these temperatures are 4 degrees above normal. Thus, heatwave has made an appearance over coastal areas. Temperatures are not going to drop per se and some parts may see maximums reaching above the 40 degree mark.
