Intense summer heat has engulfed the state of Maharashtra for the last many days. The temperatures are soaring with every passing day. In fact, the temperatures of Vidarbha and Marathwada divisions are giving a feel like that of the heatwave.

While the temperatures of almost the entire state are on a rise, it is Vidarbha and Marathwada that are the worst affected regions. the temperatures of most parts of both the regions are settling above normal by two to four degrees, clocking in early 40’s.

Within the span of 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Friday, Parbhani recorded the maximum temperatures at 42.6ºC, Akola 42.5ºC, Wardha, Nanded, and Yeotmal recorded the maximums at 42ºC each and Amravati witnessed the daytime high at 41.2ºC.

According to Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and adjoining area persists. In addition to this, the moist southwesterly and southerly winds are blowing over Vidarbha region. Moreover, a trough is also extending from Madhya Pradesh to South Kerala across Vidarbha and Karnataka.

The amalgamation of all these weather systems is expected to increase the minimum temperatures over both Vidarbha and Marathwada. Moreover, the maximum temperatures would continue to remain above normal. The humidity levels are also anticipated to rise which would, in turn, increase the discomfort level as well.

Thus, the districts like Nagpur, Akola, Amravati, Nanded, Aurangabad are expected to experience heatwave like conditions for the next two to three days.

The coastal areas would have a pleasant weather during the morning and evening hours though the weather would be uneasy during the afternoon hours due to increased humidity levels.
