Heatwave like conditions likely over Delhi

Delhi weather during the past few days has seen it all, right from extremely hot weather to rain and thundershowers bringing in relief from the prevailing weather conditions. Not only this, the city has also seen heatwave conditions.

However, since last many days, Northwest India including Delhi was experiencing warm weather conditions and heatwave had remained far away. This was on account of moist southeasterly winds blowing over the region along with on and off rains over some parts.

However, now the weather has become dry and northwesterly winds have once again started blowing from Rajasthan region over Delhi and adjoining parts. Due to this, temperatures are on the rise. As per weathermen at Skymet, these dry weather conditions are likely to continue throughout the week.

Previously, Delhi was enjoying temperatures below the 40 degree mark. However, it has now crossed 40 degrees and is currently settling at 41.5 degrees. In the next 24 to 48 hours, maximums may touch 43 degrees leading to heatwave like conditions in Delhi and its adjoining areas.

Relief can be expected over Delhi and NCR from the beginning of next week as another spell of rain is anticipated around June 19. However, until then, hot and dry weather will maintain its grip over the national capital.
