As reiterated by Skymet Weather, rain and thundershowers lashed several parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Wednesday also.
However. the intensity and spread of rain was more over Uttarakhand.
The Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir was mainly responsible for giving rain over all these three states. While, its induced cyclonic circulation marked over Punjab and Haryana had also shifted closer to Uttarakhand, leading to increase in rain activity over the state.
According to Skymet Weather, the systems are likely to clear away the region during next 24 hours but remnants of the system will continue to give scattered light rain on Thursday.
Thereafter, weather activity will reduce significantly but isolated light showers will continue for next 2-3 days. Day temperatures will also start rising in absence of any system.
According to weathermen, the passage of systems will leave lots of moisture in the air. This combined with increase in heat will lead to on and off rains over the region.
Let us have a look at the rainfall figures across the three states in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday.

After witnessing clear weather conditions for last few days, rains have made a comeback over the hilly states of North India.
According to Skymet Weather, fresh Western Disturbance has given scattered light rain over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during last 24 hours.
The system is presently marked over North Pakistan and is moving in east direction towards Jammu and Kashmir.
As the Western Disturbance inches closer, we expect intensity of rain and thundershowers to increase. On Wednesday, fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thundershowers will lash parts of the three hilly states.
The system will start moving away from the region after 24 hours but remnants of the system will continue to give weather on Thursday, though with reduced intensity.
These rains are also very crucial for dousing off the massive fire over forests of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
In wake of this activity, maximum temperatures have witnessed a significant drop and are now settling around or below normal. This has brought major relief from the heatwave like conditions prevailing over the hilly states for last 48 hours.
Heatwave over hilly states is experienced when day temperatures surpasses 30°C and are above average by 4 or 5 degrees.
