Heatwave in pockets of Maharashtra, sizzling 45 degrees yet to reach

The first fortnight of May is possibly the hottest period for Maharashtra. Third week onward, Monsoon current starts increasing over the oceanic region in the proximity of extreme southern parts and the Bay Islands. The fragrance of monsoon leads to an increase in the thunderstorms over Peninsular India, which could as well extend to cover parts of Maharashtra.

Heatwave becomes a common feature around this time for many parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Rajasthan. As such the heatwave is declared over a region experiencing temperatures 45 degrees or above, irrespective of its variation from the normal. Parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra have been reeling with temperatures in excess of 40 degrees for many days, particularly in the last week. However, they have still shied away from clocking exactly 45 degrees or above. The highest maximum temperature at some of the hottest places is recorded as in the table:

Hot weather conditions are likely to prevail over many parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Least weather activity is expected over these parts in the next three days. Few locations like Jaisalmer, Barmer, Nanded, Parbhani, Malegaon, and Jalgaon could be the first of this season to register 45 degrees or more in the next 4-6 days.
